The Stone Was Rolled Back

He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 147:3
Three heartbroken women went to a tomb early one morning. One whom they had loved was dead, and they intended to do the only thing they thought they could do: Give him a decent burial. There was much to keep them away—the anger of the authorities, guards, a large stone at the entrance to the tomb. But all those things had to get in line behind their top priority, which was making their way to Jesus.

The walk they had begun in faith was completed in wonder. When they arrived at the entrance to the tomb, there were no guards to challenge them and the stone had been rolled away. The healing of their broken hearts began with an empty grave.

When our hearts are broken, when we can't get around life's roadblocks, we should remember the women who looked for Jesus despite the impediments. God can remove whatever stands between us and wholeness. The resurrection is proof of God's power and God's love.

They went to the tomb. They had been saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back.
 Mark 16:2b-4
Prayer after thinking about today's devotion:
Melt my hardened heart, Lord. Remove the roadblocks that stand between me and the fullness you have in store for me, in Jesus' Name.
