Re-Directed to God

My times are in your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors.
Psalm 31:15
The scriptures tell us to trust God. The psalmist prays to be delivered from the hands of enemies, even while confessing that past, present, and future all belong to God.
Sometimes enemies are those who wish us harm. But sometimes we are our own enemy. The teachings of Jesus restore us to wholeness by getting us out of ourselves. We're often so consumed by ourselves that we cannot serve others—indeed we cannot even truly be with others.
Whether we're consumed with self-hatred or self-love, Jesus directs our eyes and our hearts to God. Trust in God gives us back not only our own lives, but a relationship with those around us.

And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?
 Luke 12:25
Help me to love, O God—to love you, to love my neighbors, and to love myself.
