The Psalms

They sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord, “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”

Ezra 3:11
If we want to read and to pray the prayers of the Bible—especially the Psalms—we must not ask first what they have to do with us, but what they have to do with Jesus Christ. It does not depend, therefore, on whether the Psalms express adequately that which we feel at a given moment in our heart. If we are to pray aright, perhaps it is quite necessary that we pray contrary to our own heart. It's not what we want to pray that's important, but what God wants us to pray.
 Dietrich Bonhoeffer

When they had sung the hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
 Mark 14:26
Prayer after thinking about today's devotion:
May I learn from your word how to pray, Lord.

After your own thanksgivings & petitions, close with the Lord's Prayer.
