I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying,
For he speaks peace to his faithful people.
Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,
Righteousness goes as a herald before him, preparing the way for his steps.
Unfailing love and truth have met together.
Righteousness and peace have kissed!

OPENING PRAYER
God of grace, you loved the world so much that you sent your only Son to be our Savior. Help us during this holy season to look forward to your redeeming grace by showing mercy, and by walking in the way of justice and peace, for the sake of Jesus Christ, born to redeem of the world. Amen.
LIGHTING OF THE ADVENT CANDLE
We have heard the promise: God's Chosen One will soon be among us. We must make ready.
Prepare the way of the Lord; make straight his paths!
On the day of the Lord, all creatures will live together in friendship, and a little child shall lead them. So we light this candle of peace to shine in the midst of trouble. May it lead us along peaceful paths until Messiah comes.
O come, O come, Emmanuel.
Let us pray.
Send your Spirit into every corner of our hearts. Grant us peace and understanding, that we may prepare well for the coming of the Prince of Peace, in whose Name we pray. Amen.
