In God's Hands

In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being.
Job 12:10
Don't worry about whether or not people are with you or against you, but take care that God is with you in everything you do. Keep your conscience clear and God will protect you, for human malice cannot harm a person whom God wishes to help. If you know how to suffer in silence, you will undoubtedly experience God’s help. He knows when and how to deliver you; therefore, place yourself in his hands, for God alone is able to help us and free us from all that burdens us.

It is often good for us to have others know our faults and rebuke us, for it gives us greater humility. When people humble themselves because of their faults, they easily placate those about them and readily appease those who are angry with them.

It is the humble person whom God protects and liberates. It is the humble whom God loves and consoles. To the humble God turns, and upon them bestows great grace, that after their humiliation he may raise them up to glory. God reveals his secrets to the humble, and with kind invitation bids them come to him. Thus, the humble person enjoys peace in the midst of many vexations, because their trust is in God, not in the world. Hence, you must not think that you have made any progress until you look upon yourself as no better than anyone else.
 Thomas à Kempis (alt.)

In him we live and move and have our being.
 Acts 17:28
Prayer after thinking about today's devotion:
My life is in your hands, O God. May that thought humble me and help me place my trust in you.
