Like Isaac

Through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed.

Genesis 26:4 (NLT)
The Bible doesn't say all that much about Isaac. We know that he wasn't the firstborn. We know that nobody was really expecting him. He wasn't articulate. He wasn't even particularly good. And yet he was a child of God's promise.
Just like Isaac, we aren't the first or the best or the greatest or the best known. But we, too, are children of God's promise. The faithful love God gave to Abraham, Moses and Miriam, to David and the prophets; the grace of Christ shed upon Peter and the apostles, on Mary Magdalene and on the mother of our Lord, it's given to us as well—not because of who we are, but because of who God is.
It's true that God compares me to a grain of sand on a beach. But God also compares me to a star in the heavens. Whether I'm feeling like sand or a star, God knows me and I am God's.

You, dear brothers and sisters, are children of the promise, just like Isaac.
 Galatians 4:28 (NLT)
Prayer after thinking about today's devotion:
I thank you, O God, that I belong to you and that I am blessed. May I share that blessing with others, so that all may know of your infinite love.

After your own thanksgivings & petitions, close with the Lord's Prayer.
