One Day at a Time

I have put my words in your mouth, and hidden you in the shadow of my hand.

Isaiah 51:16
God has made us both powerful and fragile, independent and vulnerable, eloquent and timid. God gives us a word to speak, even before we understand what it means. God grants us responsibility even before we're able to handle it. God gives strength—but not so much that we don't still need God's protection.
We cannot ask for everything, nor can we expect perfection. Let's just be true to what we know, and take it one day at a time.

I know your works. Look, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my Name.
 Revelation 3:8
Prayer after thinking about today's devotion:
God, give me grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things which should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it, trusting that you will make all things right, if I surrender to your will, so that I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with you forever in the next.
